Vased Arrangements

  • Unwrap your flowers. Top up the water in the vase, if necessary. It is very likely some water will have spilled over during transit/delivery.
  • Every 2-3 days, replace the water in the vase and give each stem a fresh cut. Similar to our skin, a cut on a flower stem will “scab” over and interrupt the stems ability to drink. A fresh cut opens up the stem and will keep your flowers lasting longer
  • Give each stem a fresh cut with a sharp knife or scissors. This is the tricky part – an angled cut is best simply because the stem can drink free & easy. (Think milkshake with a flat bottom straw – if the straw suction is against a flat surface, no milkshake! Same for flower stems. A flat stem could suction itself to the flat bottom of the vase and interrupt the drink.
  • Lastly, do not place your flowers in direct sunlight or on heat source.

Arrangements Created in Floral Foam

  • Unwrap your flowers. Check the water level in the arrangement by inserting your finger into a corner of the container. The floral foam should be wet BUT you should also be able to dip your finger into a puddle of water at the edge of the foam. If you cannot feel water, top up the water in your arrangement. It’s likely some water will have spilled over during transit/delivery.
  • While floral foam does hold water, your flowers are drinking that water and there will be some evaporation in our dry climate. Don’t rely on the flower foam to feed your flowers – top up the water every 2-3 days to keep your flowers lasting longer.
  • Lastly, do not place your flowers in direct sunlight or on a heat source.

Hand Tied Bouquets & Fresh Cut Flowers

  • Unwrap your flowers. Prepare a vase. (a clean vase with fresh water, supplemented with flower food is always best).
